Letters Received from Senator Mark Kelly and Mayor Kate Gallego

A letter on official Arizona letterhead acknowledging the work of Post 64.

Two letters reached Post 64 this month — one from U.S. Senator Mark Kelly and one from Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego — affirming their support for the veterans of Ahwatukee.

Post 64 was honored to receive correspondence this month from two of Arizona’s most visible public servants — U.S. Senator Mark Kelly and Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego. Both letters acknowledged the work our members do in Ahwatukee and reaffirmed their offices’ commitment to veterans across the state and city.

From Senator Mark Kelly

Senator Kelly’s note recognized the Post’s sustained service to veterans in the Ahwatukee community and pointed to ongoing federal efforts to improve VA healthcare access, mental-health resources, and benefits processing. He thanked Post 64 specifically for advocating on behalf of Arizona veterans throughout the year.

From Mayor Kate Gallego

Mayor Gallego’s letter affirmed the City of Phoenix’s partnership with the Post and our neighbors who serve. She highlighted the city’s Veteran Services initiatives and thanked Post 64 for keeping veteran outreach visible and accessible at the neighborhood level.

Why these letters matter

Letters like these are more than ceremonial. They confirm that the steady, often-unseen work our members do — phone calls, claims assistance, ride coordination, drop-offs at the VA — is registering with the offices that make policy. We are grateful, and we will keep the work going.

If you are a veteran in the Ahwatukee area and need assistance navigating benefits, please reach out to our Veteran Service Officer. Post 64 stands ready to help.
